City Council Meeting 2008-10-22
The Council Meeting was pretty uneventful and predictable. Another 3-2 boys versus the girls vote.
The highlight would be Bonds' story about chewing on lead shavings during his days as a telephone worker. Yummy.
Maggie Houlihan brought up the point of the time that has been spent on the plan so far. She and staffer agreed that this would be a normal amount of time taken for a project like this. I find that difficult to believe. How can it take 7 years to develop a plan and do an EIR? I guess if your job or consulting fees depend on it, you might stretch it out a bit.

Your b.s. sniffer is tuned correctly.
It takes seven years PLUS to get a park built, when you don't have the money.
Don't forget they didn't have the money to build the library either. That was right before the last election. The city had to borrow $20 million dollars.
The council has been scapegoating the NIMBYs when it has always been a 4-1 or 3-2 vote for moving forward with a sports complex.
It took nearly 15 years to build Cottonwood Creek Park.
Sell half the hall property and buy some park land in Leucadia or Olivenhian.
The days of massive American everything are past. Now lets focus on balanced parks.
Dear Friends,
The process of updating the city's General Plan begins soon and will set the tone and direction for future development. We must have a council that is knows best the needs of all Encinitas residents.
I encourage you to support Rachelle Collier and re-elect Maggie Houlihan so scale back the Park and keep Encinitas the way it was when we moved here.
Optimistically, Teresa
Once again Ms. Houlihan has been proven to have taken gifts and not reported it. Regardless of whether you believe the left or the right should control the council; you probably agree that someone taking a thousand dollars in an envelope and not reporting it
AND apparently having no intention of correcting her fair political practices commission paperwork over the last eight years is at a minimum, troubling.
She admits to taking the money, WHY not report it?
Why not?
Whoever is flaming Maggie, and we all known it is Stocks and Bond and their cohort -- a complaint has been made about campaign disclosures -- are we all still innocent until proven guilty? there are many complaints made by morons who think they understand the law, until an official governmental body takes action, if you still be believe in democracy and one of its fundamental underpinnings -- don't convict before the evidence is in and the jury has sung.
I am optimistic that we can vote out the incumbents and elect Bob Nanninga, Rachelle Collier and Joe Sheffo for open government and fiscal conservatism, integrity in public office.
I support term limits, and eight years for Stocks and Houlihan is plenty. Sixteen years for lead eating Bond is MORE than enough.
Give fresh perspective a chance. Vote for hope and change. Elect Collier, Nanninga and Sheffo.
Elect Brandenburg, Collier, Houlihan.
Oct. 25th 7:01 pm was not me.
Just got home from a two week trip to Australia....
Fake postings...no class.
I did spend some time in an older beach area neighborhood in Melbourne known as St.Kilda. There were signs posted on the telephone poles "Keep St. Kilda Groovy"
And big signs that said "Tell the Council the Triangle is TOO BIG" (it's a proposed mixed use development.)
Hope you voted...
